Campus Sustainability Coordinator
Skidmore College seeks a full-time Campus Sustainability Coordinator. The Coordinator will report to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Finance and Administration; the individual will also work closely with the Director of Facilities Services, the Director and Coordinator for the Environmental Studies Program, Skidmore’s Campus Environment Committee, and many other constituencies. The Sustainability Coordinator will help to educate the College community in sustainability matters and, in collaboration with various campus groups, develop, maintain, and enhance programs to advance sustainability initiatives across campus and reduce the College’s impact on the environment. This is an excellent opportunity to make an impact both on the ongoing operations of the College, and, through educational activities, on the development of future leaders.
Responsibilities include assisting the College in coordinating yearly campus sustainability activities, programs, related research and annual reporting. The successful candidate will coordinate the College’s greenhouse gas accounting and subsequent climate commitment and climate action planning. New initiatives will focus primarily on implementing energy conservation and savings programs. Other important work includes continuing to refine the campus recycling and transportation programs; managing the campus sustainability web page; helping to identify funding sources for campus sustainability programs (in conjunction with the Office of Advancement); creating sustainability orientation programs for new faculty, staff and students; and supervising the residence hall environmental education Eco-Rep program and the North Woods Stewardship program. Longer term, the Coordinator might assist the College in incorporating green design in new building projects, and in developing a campus sustainability plan.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
